I was diagnosed with hypertension at age 14. I developed type 2 diabetes 21 years ago. I have a family history of diabetes, my mother died of complications at age 36, my sister died at age 51. I am married with three children. I was always pretty active and enjoyed swimming, hiking, fishing and camping. We always liked to play in the yard together. I sold cars for 26 years, which because of working for a commission is a high pressure and high stress job with long hours. Eventually my creatine levels reached dangerous levels and my kidney function was greatly diminished. I started on hemo-dialysis in November of 2005. It was a major lifestyle change. I could no longer work, and I suffered from an infection for almost 6 months. I receive treatments three times a week for four hours. I have adjusted to my new lifestyle and now work part time.
